I met Clara Amfo back in the day when we both used to kick it in Kingston. I was just starting out as a designer and she was just starting her career as a presenter and DJ. Since then, I’ve designed and created hundreds of websites, and she’s interviewed just about every A-list celebrity on the planet!
I made her first website back in 2010 when she was a DJ for Kiss FM. Since then she’s got a new role at BBC radio 1, and the site itself has gone through about 5 or 6 iterations to keep in tune with modern times and modern design.
Trends in design and web design specifically are incredibly fast moving, and the cardinal error is to think that creating a website is a one-off project for your business or career. Your designs must stay up to date, including colours, fonts, animations, interactions, shapes, shadows…the list goes on. Clara does this the right way, and between us we make frequent but small tweaks. By doing this she can stay up to date without the rigmarole of a major rebuild or redesign.
We use WordPress as a CMS (Content Management System) for nearly all of our websites at Fontaine Web Design And Servives. This not only allows our clients to edit and update their own content without the need for a designer, but also provides great flexibility for changing design and functionality without having to start from scratch.
Clara now has the simplest ever iteration of her site – big striking imagery, links to social media and Radio 1, and a bit about her. It’s all she needs! The site is fully responsive and so it looks great on a phone, tablet and computer, and it serves as an international business card for anyone to find on Google.
Take a look at the site here, and let me know what you think!
Danny is a reliable, speedy and skilled professional. He quickly understands and delivers all the design briefs that I have sent him no matter how vague or over detailed! I will happily continue to use him.Clara Amfo
